Last month I visited the Altura CU branch on 14th Street in Riverside, it was a Saturday and I wanted to deposit a check. As usual I filed out the deposit slip and waited for a teller to be available. Finally at about 12:40pm I was finally helped by a teller who made the deposit in less than 2 minutes gave me my receipt and had me out the door. Four days later when I checked my account I noticed the money was missing. I checked my receipt and noticed my money had been deposited into a different account. I went to the bank and the man at the island helped fix the problem, he asked if I had came in before closing, and I responded that I had to wait about twenty minutes to be helped, he told me the teller must have been in a hurry and made an error, he suggested I come in at opening time instead of waiting for the last hour(which is not an option for me).
There is no excuse if you visit the teller and provide your information correctly and you are greeted by your name (they use the information of the deposit slip and your ID to confirm you are the account holder, they usually greet you by your name once the account has correctly been brought up) there is no reason for such a big mistake.
No matter what time it is you should not have to be on your toes when it comes to your bank, you should not have to question whether or not they did their job correctly, this was a big error on their part which could have caused serious grief with their "courtesy pay" program.
My advise to others keep all receipts for your record, and double check all of your transactions. Also they are trying to find way around the courtesy pay law change, be sure to opt-out in person and get a print out of this otherwise they will claim you requested to be in that program.
