hired this person to fix backed up dishwater.he ended up replacing the cast iron piping with pvc.i have no problem with the material costs which were 440.00however he charged 1125.00 for labor.he charged for 8 hours the first day, although worked from 10:00 to 12:00 the 1:00 to 4:00 and then 7 hours on the next day,9:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 2:30.when i say worked i mean his assistanrt did.mr manness left immediately.i also asked that he remove the old piping, which he said would b an extra 75.00.when i asked why the number of labor hours didn't match the actual number worked he said they charged for the time to and from his shop as well.so this added a total of six hours at 75.00 an hour.the problem i have with that is that he lives .75 miles away from where i live.i drove it and mapquested it.the time between his shop and our home is two minutes.the gas cost per mapquest at 15 miles a gallon is eight cents which i am more than willing to pay.once i objected to the labor excess he said he would take off the 75.00 pipe removal charge if i paid him in cash.unfortunately i did.having subsequently talked with more than three other people and the member of alocal church who used his services(and who considered legal action) i have discovered that this is something that occurs frequently.the positive side of his business is that he actually does little or no work and leaves it to his younger assistant who does his job well but is not part of the billing process.i would recommend anyone thinking of hiring a plumber in this area to stay clear of this company.there are several people in town who will corroberate this.zero stars
