Chase mortgage charged me $89.40 penalty for a late mortgage payment that they erred on. I made my payment on 1/13 via Chase online banking to my Chase mtg. On 1/19, the same amount was credited back to my checking account. On 1/25, their mtg collector, Ron, calls me to question me on my late payment. I immediately called their online banking to find out why my payment didn't go through. Tamika could not give me an answer after speaking with their mtg dept while I was on hold so she said her supervisor would investigate and call me back in a few hours. No call to this date. I told Ron what I see was happening in my online banking transactional log and advised that I will schedule another online payment. I verified payment was received by their mtg dept on 1/26. Then, I asked that they remove the penalty that they charged me because 1) I made my payment on time initially, 2) it was Chase's online banking error, not mine, 3) I've made online payments toward my mtg for the longest time without any problem until now - 1-2 months after they purchased WAMU and switched me to their Chase.com website. They are giving me the run around because they can. This is not the first time I have to deal with issues with Chase mtg. When closing my LOC account after making my last payment to record the reconveyance, they lost my paperwork and/or ignored my request for about two months until I kept faxing and calling them repeatedly at one point. Every time I call or send an email via their online bank/mtg account, a new person answers me. I'm always told to do this and that in order to resolve the issue. When I do, nothing happens and I have to call them to try to get it done again. It takes that much trouble and work to get them to make things right. It's very frustrating and this should not have to happen. Based on my experience and repeated headache with having to deal with them for the last 3-4 years, I'd give them zero stars but I can't take the last star off!! What are my rights and what are they required to do??
