I think an A+ rating for this company is overly generous. I contracted this company to transport my car to Ca from Florida. The pick up was to have taken place on a Sunday. The owner is very pleasant and a great "salesman" and if you see the website it sounds as if he has long-term relationships with his drivers. The owner works out of his house. He even told me that he knew exactly what driver he was going to select for the transport, as to give me reassurance that I was getting special treatment. He indicated that it would take 7-10 days for my car to be delivered to CA. This worked out for me since I was driving a truck to CA and I figured on 5-6 days of driving and that would give me enough time to get there before my car. This is standard for the moving industry. They give you a range of 7-10 days.

On the Saturday before the pick up I didn't get a call from the driver nor the Florida Transport owner to confirm the pick up on Sunday at 1 p.m.. On Sunday morning I had not heard from the driver by 10 a.m. so I called the Transport company owner. He did not pick up so I had to leave a message. He called me back at 11 a.m. and acted like Sergeant Schultz from Hogan's Heroes: "I know nothing". He didn't even have the phone number of the driver and didn't have contingency plan B. I told him that if he couldn't solve my problem I would find someone who would and give someone else my business. Now I was panicked since I was supposed to leave the next day for CA. My truck was already loaded and the contract clock on the truck I was driving was already ticking since Saturday for 10 days.

He finally called me back within the hour and told me he had found a driver who would transport my car, Richer Trucking out of Chico, CA. When Mr. Richer arrived he found out about my itinerary and refused to take my car because of my time schedule in getting to CA but he finally decided to take it.

The following Thursday I got a call at about 5 p.m. from Mr. Richer saying he was already in CA (we left on the same day, Monday!). I was in Las Cruces, NM. That day the worst storm in the history of CA was moving through Arizona with reports on the Weather Channel that several semis had been overturned by 55 mile mph winds. I was headed right for the storm. There was no way I was going to drive a 16 ft. truck through the storm. I told him I was staying put in Las Cruces until the storm passed. The next day we met up with a couple coming from El Paso, east of Las Cruces. They reported that semis had been overturned by the storm in El Paso. It was a good thing I stopped or I would have been one of those trucks that overturned.

On Friday I got another call from Florida Auto Transport asking me to get off the highway, find a FedEx store and Fedex the payment to the driver so he could leave my car at the motel. We had agreed that there would be a face to face exchange at the motel. I refused to do that. Finally, I arrived on Sunday and I got another call from the driver asking me to call him when I got to a certain junction of I-10 and another highway. I didn't call him because I wanted time to register at the motel before I had to deal with him. He arrived at the motel five minutes after I did. He told me he would not take another car from someone driving across again. He did deliver the car in good condition and I paid him with travelers checks as agreed.

So, unless you are flying to your destination and can wait for the car at the other end with plenty of days in between, I would not use these Transport companies.

By the way, the reason I had to pay in person was that the owner of Florida Transport is too cheap to replace his credit card processor "because it is not compatible with his new Windows 7".
