If I could go back, I would avoid this company at all costs. I switched from McAfee to Norton, which was a huge mistake. The Norton antivirus was not updating properly on my computer and so I granted a Norton tech remote access to my computer. The tech installed a program onto my computer (unbeknownst to me) that disabled important security features on my computer. My system would not allow me to remove the program, so I contacted Norton again. A tech explained that he needed remote access to fix the problem, I refused, considering the problems I already had. The tech then put me in contact with his supervisor who when I allowed remote access to my computer something he did caused the system to completely crash. Initially I sent a letter of complaint to Norton/Symantec Corporation. No one ever responded. I then contacted the BBB and after close to a month of ignoring me after the BBB got in contact with Symantec they contacted me the next day. I explained how I had been given the run around by employees in India and how they would always say "I do not have the authority to connect you to the corporate office". The cooperate office pretty much put the blame on me, and offered a complimentary virus protection, but refused to fix my PC that was broken by their employee. The company is deflecting blame and pretty much stated that they are not paying to repair my system and if I do not accept their offer of virus protection they are closing my case. Horrible customer service and be weary of allowing this company s employees any contact to your PC through remote access (as I forgot to mention the tech opened a personal file on my computer during remote access). I have had to pay out hundreds of dollars in regards to this problem (postal service, phone bill as they keep me on hold for long periods of time, attempting to fix the problem etc). Horrible company, wont accept responsibility for what they did and will leave the customer to pick up the pieces and repair the damage they did. Be careful in any interactions with Symantec corporation.
